Pale Errant

About the game

A small white figure flees from the Root - a shapeless torrent of pale ichor studded with countless eyes, its colossal hands clawing up the walls. The Errant ascends a tower stranded in absolute black. The void is silent but for the lost souls pacing the ledges, echoes of others who tried to climb. 

The world exists in stark monochrome. There is no salvation. There is only the climb, and the height you leave behind. Death is the only ritual before the ascent begins again. 

This is an early prototype. Pale Errant will sharpen, deepen, and expand with time!

The game is barely made. It’s a prototype - rough, incomplete, but growing as I learn. If Pale Errant stirs something in you, the best support you can offer is your ideas! Thanks for playing!

Controls

Move - AD

Jump / Double Jump - Space (press again in mid-air)

Wall Slide - hold against a wall while falling

Wall Jump - jump while sliding

Dash - Shift (in any direction)

Downward Dash - Down + Shift (in the air)

Dash Into — dash through an enemy. They turn to static stone, becoming a platform.

Echo Dash — Downward Dash onto an enemy. They shatter. You rise as a black silhouette, phasing through walls and platforms, then touch ground and turn white again.

Menu words:

Fade - quit

Echo - start

Static - settings

Replay - play again

Resume - continue

Mute - return to menu

Chip - work in progress..

Keys are not set in stone. Change them in Static!

Recomendations

The tower offers many paths. Some are gentle but long, meant for cautious hands. Others are steep and swift - a quicker ascent for those who dare.

The Root slows slightly as it draws near — a breath, a hesitation. Use it.

Errants remember. They used to be just like you. Kill them, and points come at once. A multiplier grows with each death, swelling the height you leave behind. But the Root feels every kill. It grows fiercer, faster. Rage quickens its climb.

Pacifist ascent, or a slaughter crowned with speed? 

The controls are responsive and forgiving. Every touch answers. The Errant moves with you, not against you!
